The Research Group on Collaborative Spaces (RGCS)* has been set up in November 2014. It is an independent network and is focused on work and workplace transformations in the context of the collaborative economy. It is focused on collaborative spaces, in particular coworking spaces (external or corporate), maker spaces, fab labs and hacker spaces. Studies related to RGCS cover the social, political, managerial, digital and spatial dimensions of collaborative spaces and collaborative experiences.
The project is mainly focused on the dynamic of three cities: London, Paris and Montreal. We intend to compare the public policies, business models and everyday activities occuring in local collaborative spaces (new open spaces, co-working spaces, maker spaces, fab labs, etc.). Three chapters have thus been set up in Paris, London and Montreal. Each chapter organizes bi-monthly research seminars and working groups. Events take place at université Paris-Dauphine for RGCS Paris, the King’s College London for RGCS London and McGill University or UQAM for RGCS Montreal.
